Hi,

Currently I have a KT7E and a 1.2 gig Athlon with a Global Win CAK-38. Its great at cooling but it is not at all great at being quiet. In fact, jumbo jets are quieter!!! It keeps my family awake and half the neighbourhood too.
What solutions are there to quieten it down?
I am looking for advice specific to the mobo. I am not really interested in watercooling.
I am considering the Noise Control Silverado but it is quite big.
Would it fit on this mobo okay?
How effective is it?
Any problems with it?
What alternative coolers/heatsinks are there?

Thanks!

Well, the easiest way to get rid of the noise problem is to get rid of the CAK 38. It's a bit long in the tooth as far as heatsinks go, and there are alot of sinks out there that cool better with much less noise.

The Taisol sinks, for instance. The Taisol CGK7600092 is the newest one, certified to cool up to XP 2000+ chips, and the fan only puts out 32db. You can get them for about 30 bucks here http://www.inflowdirect.com

Thanks for the quick reply!
I am in the UK, but im sure I can get it here with no problems.

I will investigate that option.
I will see how that goes when all replies come in!!

Cheers,

Catherine
