SB65G2 or Aria with 6600GT

Fri Dec 17, 2004 9:24 am

Wondering if this setup is going to be alright on the PS of either of these. The Aria is definitly the cheaper way for me to go (I already have a tower, I'm looking to move it into a SFF, so I need either a Shuttle with S478 or a Shuttle). I guess you guys will probably already know the PS stats for each but I'll give 'em anyways. The Shuttle's is 220W with PFC, the Aria's is 300W with PFC.

My system would include:
P4 2.4C
2x512MB PC3200 RAM (Generic)
2x40GB 7200RPM HDs
DVD-RW/+RW drive
XFX 6600GT

I think that's it. :D Anyways, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

welcome to the forums 8)
for reference everyone else, here's TR's writeup on the Aria
and here's Legion Hardware's writeup on the Shuttle

personally I htink the shuttle looks better, but I would bet that teh Aria would perform better w/ more room for cooling and whatnot
I'm pretty sure that either can handle youre 6600gt w/o any problems 8)

Thanks for the welcome. ;D
The Shuttle is what I'm leaning towards, though it's at least $100 more (CAD). I'll have to think about it over the weekend, it all depends on Christ mas money I guess.

Thanks for the information too, anyone have any hands on/personal experience with either of these?

Hello and welcome. I've owned two Shuttle boxes and now an Aria setup. The Aria is much easier to work on and does run somewhat cooler, but it is bigger than the "shoebox" footprint that the Shuttle uses. To some the larger size is a bit of a turn off to the SFF crowd, but I love mine. Here's what I have currently running:

Antec Aria SFF Case
AMD Athlon64 3400+ w/ Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu
Gigabyte GA-K8VT800M m-ATX motherboard w/1Gb (2x512Mb) Corsair TwinX 3200C2Pro w/LED's :)
BFG Tech Nvidia 6800GT OC 256Mb Video
36Gb WD Raptor 10K SATA
250Gb WD 7200RPM SATA
NEC 2500A DVD Burner flashed to support Dual Layer Media
Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS
Dell 2000FP 20.1" LCD
Logitech Z-5500 5.1 THX Certified Speakers

The only mods I've done to help with the temperature was to add an 80mm intake fan on the graphics side of the case which helped drop temps by as much as 6c durning load, and I removed the honeycomb fan guard on the rear of the 120mm exhaust fan for the PSU.

Hope this helps,
