DVD ROM - Sony or Toshiba

Sun Dec 29, 2002 2:19 pm

I am getting a DVD finally, and just wondered which one to get. I have heard the Toshiba is better fo reading all the sub-channel data, but the spin up time is a bit slower than the Sony. Also I have read that the Sony is quieter.

Thanx for any info.

I have a Sony on my computer, and it's doing very well. I've extracted many sub-channel data, and so far, I didn't have any problems. From what I know the Toshiba has the hability to read the DVD-R more easily, but is more expensive...

Thanx guys

I'll probably order the Toshiba.

As both of you have stated it's backwards compatible, and it reads DVD-R better than Sony.

danny e:

$39 would be a great price if it was in Canadian pesos, but up here it'll cost me about $75-$80. :x (damn Canadian loonie)

Thanx for all the info guys, it was helpful.
