You can set the affinity by going to the task manager, right clicking a task, and going to set affinity. Then you'll have some check boxes with CPU0, 1, 2... etc etc. Select the CPU you want the task to run on.

The only problem is, I'm pretty sure, is that it'll slow down the single instance I have running now. I run one instances plus play my game, the game takes 50% (ie, one cpu), and the other CPU is used for F@H. With two instances running, game would still take 100% of one core, but the two instances would "fight" over control of the second core... just like running two instances on a single core Athlon 64, no benefit.

I'll try it sometime though, see how much better/worse it does. Be interesting.
I love you, Peter Roth.

I finally made up all the ground I lost over the summer while deployed and just broke into the top 200! Thankfully, my future Mrs. didn't freak when the first electric bill since I've been back arrived. My small folding farm might have been very short lived!

Fixen the Boxen....

Sat Oct 22, 2005 12:09 am

So, there I was, staring at my new glorious build, and realized that my one of my many "spare" computers had shut down, yet again, following it's usual 1 to 5 day cycle of crashing.

So, I pulled out the heatsink and redid the thermal goop...

It looks like I have triumphed again! I have bent the will of the machine to mine! All hail ME!!!!

Err...well, ok, so it was a 10 minute job to get this freakin' box back up and running. Still, you have to take pride in that.

Also, Welcome Back, ifittakesforever!

It's the latest addition (diskless node #9) to the JBI arsenal -- an MSI K8MM-V mobo, Enermax micro-ATX PSU and Sempron 2600+ CPU. Terrific bang for the buck, and great bang per watt as well. :D

Ok, my turn!
I've hit 50,000 points at Tech Report!
And over 100,000 points overall between TR and the two folding teams (see sig) I've recently started/restarted as part of the TR's FADD project started by DrFish. Participating in that has delayed my attack to get to the top 100 here and temporarily paused my part-time folder status in UGN - plus travel also keeps me away from relaunching a couple more PCs and OCing the X2.
For the FADD project, one team is now rapidly approaching the top 200 teams, and the PPD keeps growing (now over 25K) with over 400 active CPUs (most new folders). I expect that it will keep growing partly as it is well supported by admin - with special folding tags and they just had their first draw for folders with a X2 4200+ as the prize! The second team is just starting up (30 CPUs), but I hope/expect it will be a major team over time.
If someone else needs some help with a FADD project, let me know.
So, yeah, I've keep somewhat scarce at TR for the last little while.
Keep folding!

That's very nice.

How much is your entire watercooling setup, by the way?

i spent close to $300  but it's already lasted me two computers and I'm sure it'll last for several more..

$45 for cpu heatsink, $40 for chipset heatsink, $75 for ddc pump (it's so tiny and awesome lol), $110 for a massive thermochill 120.3 radiator, primoflex tubing, three evercool 120mm's, t-line (no reservoir)

Ouch. That's a lot for a cooler, to me at least.

I guess if you can continue using it from system to system that helps, but as for me I want to spend very little, and not generate a lot of heat I'll have to spend more money to evacuate in warmer months.

nice thing is that these days, you can spend very, very little on a decent water cooling setup if you look around.. i simply opted for expensive stuff 'cause at the time I had the funds and found some parts I knew would work well in the case I was building

Top 100

Sat Nov 12, 2005 11:31 am

Woot! I am now on page 1!

Not bad for a farm consisting of my old gaming computers and some friends old hardware.....All in my basement!

I should break 200K points in the next day or two as well. All in all, a good weekend!

Next stop....Top 50!

Congrats MadBrad .. I hope to join the first page elite early in 2006.

200K is a great milestone .. I'm pretty psyched about being a week away from 150K.

Good Luck with your Top 50 charge!

Not sure how long it will last, but I'm in the dark red for the first time ever! I need the next payday to come around so I can get my A64 3000+ a motherboard to live in so I can get it folding and keep up my production. Can't wait to be a first-pager!
