TV Tuner and Graphics card combos

Sun Jul 31, 2005 1:16 pm

Ok, not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this, but here it goes. My wife has agreed to let me build a completely new system next month and I have a quick question. I would like to use MCE 2005 and am looking into getting a nVidia 6600 GT as my video card. Do I need to use a nVidia TV tuner as well, or can I use an ATI TV tuner. My biggest concern is if there are going to be driver conflicts from the two different manufacturers. Thank you for any advice anybody can give me.

Edit: quick Clarification: Here is a list of everything I am considering:

This computer will be used for gaming, word processing, email and web, picture and movie editing, and other misc jobs. The reason for the dual core is I tend to do plenty of picture scanning/editing at the same time I am trying to do other things, and I am tired of waiting for the scan to complete. My budget is $1500 from the wife plus whatever I can sneak by from my own, so around 1800-2000 total.

it might be worth looking at one of the ATI all in wonder cards you can get a good deal on them alot of the time . personally i wouldnt want to run two different brands of cards just because of the chance of having a conflict . here is a ATI X800XT All IN Wonder http://www.newegg.com/OldVersion/app/Vi ... 492&depa=0 . its 333 dollars so its probably going to be less money than two seperate cards would be .

The Hauppage cards and NVIDIA cards get along very well together. The MCE 2005 will work just fine with your 6600GT.
