Critique This 2.1K Build

Sun Aug 14, 2005 10:43 am

Hi. Long time reader, first time poster. I'm building this for a friend. There will be minimal to no overclocking. I'll probably just tweak the RAM/other BIOS settings when I set it up.

With the motherboard, I kept going back and forth between that and the Asus A8N-SLI Premium. I also considered the SLI-DR and Ultra-D. I'm still kinda open to those, I guess. Anyway, feedback would be appreciated.

Looks good to me! I'd prolly save 146.95 on something and gofer the SLI-DR. Hint, Hint.
If we cannot be free, at least we can be cheap! FZ.

Yep. He was going to spend $3.5K on a Dell. I convinced him not to do that. Then he said he wanted top of the line everything. I said he could get close to top-end performance, basically %90 of the performance for %65 of the cost.

And this is the result

You may want to go with a 7800GT, not the GTX. It has very close performance to the GTX for $100 cheaper. Looks like a very nice rig though. We need a green with envy smiley.

lol, I meant as opposed to building top-end (4800 X2/FX-57 - $500 more, a second 7800GTX - $550 more, Titanium OCZ RAM - $100 more). I dont think you could buy a Dell system that would rival this one.
