I have a 7800gt. If I want to go SLI, do i need the same brand card or can it be another brand 7800gt?

they need to be the same chipset and same video bios, sooooo yeah essentially the exact same card, when you go to get the second one i would find the model number for your card and search for that specific model number

I thought NVidia had loosened restrictions. Now I thought any two cards of the same model will work. However, if they are different speeds, it slows down the faster one.

nvidia is suppose to add support for mismatched cards with the detonator 80 series driver . i dont think any thing is official yet though . i would probably hold off for awhile and see what happens when the new drivers come out
