It looks good.....but I'd consider going with a different PSU.

I know it makes the case seem like an even sweeter deal....but more often than not those inexpensive combos lead to more expensive problems later.
Probably PUI. Definitely an كافر

that motherboard has an agp slot and that video card has a PCI-E connector. i suggest getting a NForce 4 based motherboard. also get a good brand name psu...enermax, seasonic, thermaltake, fortron, ocz...
also if your going to be gaming i would get a A64 3000 in stead and use the money saved to get a better video card.

He might also get an nForce4 board rather than a Via based motherboard. And I'm not too sure about that video card's price since it's not a 6600GT model. Others here will know better about whether the 256 MB on the card mean anything compared to the 128 MB models available. My memory is that it doesn't mean much, and they may use slower RAM on such boards.

Alright well instead of that motherboard how about the DFI LAN PARTY UT NF4 ULTRA-D AMD MB (NF4U91-100)
http://www.infonec.com/site/main.php?mo ... il&id=8481

And you're probably right about the case, what about the Antec SX 1045BII 10BAY FULL TOWER ATX BLACK 450W ATX12V USB FW
(SX1045BII)

i've been hearing the antec psu's have been prone to failure lately.
tell us how much you plan on spending and let some of us suggest entire systems for you. include a list of the parts you already have.

I'm still a fan of Antec, though I have heard complaints recently. I'm kicking myself for not catching your mobo/video card conflict.

I've seen this case/psu combo receive good reviews:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811144082
and it's in your price range.

But again, I'm a fan of the Antec.....

Edit: That Antec link is a good deal. I have one of those cases, and a couple of their psu's. For that price it would be hard for me to justify something different.

the psu in that link doesn't have dual +12v rails with the 24 pin connector... which is what you need.

are you increasing your budget? if not you'd be better off getting a 3000 and better video card if your going to be gaming alot.

Horus . . . . I just took a spin on Infonec's website (even though I don't really like shopping with them - much rather Canada Computers or PC Village) but

- AMD 64 - 939 3500+ = $279
- Abit KN8 = $103
- 2x512 Crucial value = 2x$59 = 118
- Maxtor 120gig SATA HD = $96
- Sapphire Radeon X800GT = $178

Total = $774

I say ditch that DVD-RW and go over to Canada Computers and get the BenQ 1640 = $50

You are left with $176 to get a decent case and PSU - like the Antec 430W PSU on Canada Computers website.

Or you can get the 64-3000 for now for $100 less and get the case and PSU you REALLY want and will do you justice and upgrade the CPU at a later date - they're gonna drop in price soon enough.

http://www.canadacomputers.com
http://www.pcvillagecanada.com
http://www.pc4canada.com
http://www.icct.ca

try them all and see what can be for what price.

He stated that his budget is $1000 canadian and what you have listed works out to be $1380 canadian (not to mention mark-ups for crossing the border to canadian retail stores).

Yeah, X2 by that time! 8)

All these relatively low price stores you do have to be careful especially if you are a first time buyer. I would add one more to the mix:

Sounds like you guys are doing what I'm doing as well, I'm north of toronto and was planning on getting stuff in the toronto area.

Does http://www.newegg.com sell to canada?

Oh and you forgot about http://www.tigerdirect.ca

I do agree with getting a lower cpu like the 1.8 3000+ but it does have 1600mhz FSB vs the 3200+ at 2000mhz...will that effect anything? its about 60$ diff between the two.

Also video cards, since I'm on a budget as well I was thinking about getting a 6600 256meg some sort of card for like $150+ and just get one that is an SLI card so I can buy two in a few months. Is that a good idea?

Thanks

As of yet, newegg does not ship to canada. If you feel like tigerdirect is up to your liking, then go for it.

link for the same card lickety linked to but from the canadian website.

I am in Toronto, I just purchased this:
http://secure.ncix.com/pcbuilder/index. ... id=2157000
from NCIX.com
the shipping+insurance came out to a little over $100 BUT I only paid 7% tax. This is my first dealing with NCIX but I have had many friends who have had good experiences, now I just have to wait for its arrival...

As for the case, I would suggest the Sonata 2, solid case for a good price considering it comes with a power supply...

If CompUSA does ship to Canada, a few things will have to be factored in:

- Duty on purchased product
- SHipping & Handling (Custom Brokers)
- Conversion rate at time of purchase.
