i am getting some ram and the choices i have been looking at is

all good ram and all around the average of $300
i will be doing a good ammount of overclcoking but not completely all out crazy, everything at absolute max kind of stuff(might eventually get to that)

I built a very similar system to what you have listed about 3 months ago. I got some OCZ platinum DDR400 RAM (1GBx2 sticks), and I have absolutely no complaints. The RAM cost me about $270 on newegg. I like most of the chioces you've made except for a few things. First of all, I notice that you're getting an SLI board. I'm sure it's a fine board, but personally I think that unless you're getting two graphics cards right at the start, it's a worthless feature. By the time you get around to getting that second card, a better faster card that can outperform the SLIed cards will be out and at just a few more bucks than the 7800 you're going to buy. Also, I'm a little uneasy over your choice of PSU. Enermax PSU's while in a price range that suggests that it's a good piece of hardware, generally are incapable of outputting its stated wattage. I'd go for a Seasonic, PC power (expensive!), OCZ, or an Antec. Oh and instead of getting that Audigy 2 ZS, how about spend some $40 more and get that shiny new X-Fi card? Otherwise try a bluegears sound card. I've read that they sound better than Audigy and cost about $90 on newegg.

eh I knew i was gonna get some flack when I threw out antec, but hey look at it this way: antec powersupplies either output the wattage within the specs, or they fail. There are a few bad eggs among antec powersupplies, but overall they make good PSUs, and not all across the board subpar PSUs.

Personally, id go with the Crucial Ballistix..great stuff. Seasonic makes a great psu. Here is one that will more than fit the bill.

Actually I have an old Antec 350W that is still running strong with a bunch of stuff loaded (AXP 2500+, 2x Atlas V, Ti4200 no less).

I'm curious as to your comment on Enermax. Any linkage?

Well I suppose I was blowing the problem a little out of proportion for Enermax PSUs, but looking at some of the outlandishly speced PSUs they make, i.e. the 1kW PSU (http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=1495), they seem like a company that's not fully concentrating on quality hardware, caring more about flashy big numbers instead. I mean, you'll probably never see Seasonic or Antec make a 1kW power supply, for the time being anyway. I've also read that Enermax PSUs cannot support the power output that it is rated at. Most people will buy the PSUs and use them, and it'll work fine because they never really push the PSU to its rated output limits. However, if they do, THEN there will be problems. Antec, Seasonic, and other more reputable companies seem to rate their power supplies in a less gratuitous manner.

BTW-the titanium pc3200 is way overpriced for that performance level-they are mainly for workstation solutions. You might as well save $40 and get the plat ed. in that case

in defense of antec, every antec power supply I've owned ran within spec while it would run.

Enermax is disreputable?

The Enermax supply he's chosen is on DFI's recommended list for that motherboard, which means a lot if you're familiar with how picky this motherboard seems to be about it's supply.

I'm not sure how making a 1kW supply means that they're not fully concentrating on quality hardware. Would you be concerned with the quality of the 810W unit made by PC Power and Cooling?

Gratuitous? If you want/need 66A of +12, where else are you going to get it?

I am using an Antec True430 PSU and it runs my system perfectly, no problems thus far...

plat isnt good for overclcoking, i ddident no about titanium thats why i asked though
