Epia mini-ITX motherboard with..

Fri Oct 21, 2005 4:31 am

Will the Via Epia 10000 motherboard (1ghz processor/PC133 SDRAM one) be fine running with a Sound Blaster Live DE 5.1 soundcard in the single PCI slot? Also wondering before any issues turn up, if VIA EPIA chipsets have issues with AVerMedia (DVB-T?) TV tuner PCI cards (NOT looking to upgrade sound to an Audigy or better BTW).

My other Small Form Factor, Antec Aria +Nforce2 motherboard is being RMA'd (DIED?), so I just ordered one of these EPIA 10000 motherboards, and would like to know any issues before it arrives. It's for fun, as I simply wanted it for a small, cool running, quiet PC to surf the net on, in front of the TV :) Maybe for music too, if the Soundblaster plays well with this motherboard, even a Radeon 7000, if I can find a guide to fix problems ATI videocards and VIA ITX motherboards *apparently* have.

The soundblaster should work fine. A bunch of guys over at MP3Car have that setup.

I'm gonna be dropping in an Audigy into my Epia V once I find a dual-PCI slot riser.

Thanks for the reply :) Good luck with your project, sounds like a good media PC, and that dual-PCI riser sounds interesting, as it means an additional PCI video card or tv tuner card or something can be added.

Got my Epia V10000 earlier this week (1 Ghz), can't wait to empy a hard drive to get this thing running, and pull a 512mb SDRAM stick out of an older system for it. Damn, it's so small you can't believe it till you see it in person! Got a few very good case mods ideas for mini-ITX size custom cases already (will post any pics of custom cases too) Here's it in an Aopen Slimline/Micro ATX case.. the tiny motherboard makes the case look huge!
