Yes, Alanzilla, exactly! You can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear, and you can't make a sports car out of an economy car. Anything with less than 8 cylinders or with FWD is built for economy first and foremost.

You have to be careful, there. There's a whole lotta Supras with 6 cylinders that'll eat anything you can cough up with 8.
But they _are_ rear-wheel drive.

I'll have to disagree with that. Think Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo, Porsche 911 N/A or Turbo, and/or Mazda's rotary RX-7 to site a few specific examples. These all have less than 8 cylinders, but I would not hesitate to call them sports cars. Just because it doesn't have eight cylinders of American iron doesn't mean it's not a sports car.

I don't know about a whole lot, they're as rare as hen's teeth, at least where I live. And let's face it, the only way they squeeze that kind of power out of a six-banger is by doing a LOT of squeezing! Adding massive amounts of turbo boost and/or nitrous causes longetivity and driveability to suffer.

about the sports car thing, i don't really agree. rear wheel drive and v8 do not make a sports car anymore than four cylinders/front wheel drive disqualifies a car from being a sports car.
