SCSI assistance needed
Have a problem with one of my SCSI disks that after an electrical failure keeps giving message during bootup (actually it the controller that comes with the message during bootscreen) that there might be a problem in near future with the disc. I have tested it over and over without being able to find any problems with it. What I would like to know is, are there any way to "reset" the error message, and if so.. is the error generated by the disc it self, or is it generated by the SCSI controller.

Anyone here that have any suggestion about what I can do?

Only thing I can think of off the top of my head is to backup your data and do a low level format from the SCSI BIOS setup.

This is the message i get right after controller is done verifying SCSI ID's

WARNING: Drive on SCSI ID: 4 has exceeded Failure Prediction Treshold !
Please make backup as soon as possibel.

It's an Adaptec 2940U2W controller I have, and it is the BIOS in controller that gives the message..

The Disc with the failure has S.M.A.R.T implemented, and what I think i search, is some kind of program/firmware that can reset the Disc itself (sort of like resetting bios on mobo) but i havent been able to find any firmware for my Quantum Atlas IV SCA2 hdd anywhere.

Sounds like a S.M.A.R.T. warning, and it's doing exactly what it's supposed to do: monitor and predict hard drive failure before it happens.

You should get this drive replaced under warranty if possible. Otherwise decide how risky you feel.
