Dang what's described in that forum sounds exactly like the problem I'm having with my G400. And you had to post this AFTER I went out and bought a Radeon 9000 to replace it ;) (ok not quite to replace the G400, the Kyro II in my wifes replaced the G400 and the 9000 replaced the Kyro II).
