Great MODS that need more praise

How we justify all that high-dollar hardware.

Q3F which is a Team Fortress conversion on Quake 3. It has a new beta version 2 coming out soon and it promises to be amazing!! Head over to Q3F.com and check it out. And if anyone mentions Counter-Strike some one is going to get slapped!

There's this mod that came out a while back for Half Life. Can't remember the name, but it's one of these Rainbow 6 conversion type things. Last time I played with it, it wasn't very finished. Hard to tell the models apart and very confusing weapons and ammo and the like. It was a ton of fun on a LAN, but one of my buddies wrote this little cheat that made all the models really bright, so the next time we played it wasn't much fun.

I hear it caught on, on this "Intarweb" I keep hearing about. Dammit, what was that called?

yeah, I think I saw somebody playing that. They said something like "This is so much better that quicken2!" I also heard it was the most-played innernet game for a while there, even over hearts! I can't remember the name, but it was something like anti-terrorist, or count the strikes, probably some bowling add-on.

Hi,

 Yip, it's still what I play the most - when you think that it was started and mostly finished by a bunch of guys in their spare time it's quite impressive.

Now if only I could remember the name of it - I've just got so used to going for the shortcut in the same spot on my desktop....

Day of Defeat is my favorite now for Half-Life over CS. And definitely Urban Terror for Quake3.

TFC and Quake Fortress 3 are amazing. I also have have to plug the Quake 3 Threewave mod. Lot of fun and you gotta love "silly quad". Not very many servers run it but there is one that is always up and I get decent ping. Cant remember the name or IP address at the moment.

Ubran Terror rocks! It's probably my favorite game. Quake 3 true Combat is also good, but the progress seems slow. Hopefully is will continue to improve.

Of course, counter-strike is the king of mods. I just wish it would run under WINE... sigh....

Well, if anyone is interested in some DOD I did put up a smallish server. It has some voting, and most importantly, anti cheat measures put in. It'll kick/ban anyone using a cheat.

Day of Defeat is good. I also like Tactical Ops for UT. I've been playing the co-op mod for Medal of Honor like mad for the past couple of days. Co-op rocks on a LAN!

My vote goes to DoD, although I have been taking somewhat of a break from it (and all other mods) lately to play ghost recon and wolfenstein.

Glad to see someone mention Urban Terror for Q3! ...if only character movement was a little smoother, they walk like the have a stick in thier buttocks. Havent found a place in my heart for True Combat yet.

Not really a mod, but the real BIG maps with low grav in Unreal Tournament rock my world. Especially with instagib or Strangelove.
