when in ie6 on my win2k professional system and i'm trying to save a .jpg using rightclick>save picture as the default file format is bitmap... obviously the first thing i would look to to change the file type would be the drop down menu for file type, except bitmap is the only avaialbe file format..

is this an ie6 problem? whats goin on.. bmp's are a pain.

As far as my system goes, when I do this if its a .jpg, gif, etc I can save as those extensions as well as a bitmap, but if the picture is a bitmap then I only have the option to save it as so. Was it different for you before?

You can convert it in MS Paint by going to File->Save As and selecting a format.

Ohya forgot about that. Thats what I usually do to save it in bmp form.
Your bargaining posture is highly dubious.

Pretty wierd that IE would choose a format by itself though. Almost like it's got a mind of its own....

It's a known bug in IE 6 I believe. I'm not really sure if it's been fixed yet though. It doesn't happen to me anymore though. Try running Windows Update and see if that gets rid of it.
