LCD 22 in, widescreen. Has to be from Newegg.com and around $250(a little higher for quaility is ok) ive been looking at this one and would like to know your thoughts

I bought that exact monitor, back in January I think.

I love it.

only thing is you're gonna need a few thick books to stack under each corner so it doesn't wobble. But aside from that and a teensy bit of white bleed at the top, it's awesome. This has been one of my favorite purchases ever.

If you'll pardon the imagery, I think you'll absolutely spooge yourself. I went from a 21" CRT to this, and was pleasantly surprised to find the 22" wide LCD picture was the same height as the viewable image on the 21" CRT.

Going from my 19" CRT to the 20" LCD that I went to, I found that as well. It was exactly 10.5 inches tall, but there was an extra 1.5" on each side due to the widescreen. (and I got an extra 90 pixels of height going from 1280x960 to 1680x1050).

True, but for that price and that size people on a budget will blink. Most who are thinking price range like that aren't going to care too much about 6-bit vs 8-bit, nor will it really affect them.

Oh and for interests sake, for a little more expensive 21" LCD screen that does HDMI (through a cheap adaptor or just a HDMI-DVI cable) and also is HDCP complaint montior for anyone wanting to watch 1080i/p movies on Highdef or BluRay, I know for sure that the Samsung 215TW works beautifully. Mine displays at 1920x1050 through the HDMI cable too, but apparently my bro believes it is stretched and upscaled from its native 1680x1050 resolution, but doesn't look at all stretched. Oh, and his cheaper 22" LCD monitor he bought for $300 is not HDMI complaint, I tested this they dont work at all without HDCP complaince with High Definition DVDs. Just a lil info for anyone wanting to know when buying new monitors, and wanting to use it later for High Def!

Not all wide-screen LCDs are 6 bit, but 22" models are for whatever reason.

My Dell 2005FPW is 8-bit IPS. The 2007WFP's at work are 8-bit S-IPS. The Dell 2407WFP(-HC)'s are 8-bit S-PVA. What are you talking about? :-?

Any DVI monitor can play an HDMI signal. They are electrically the same. HDCP is a different thing though. I'd definitely find a monitor that supoorts it. Just remember HDMI != HDCP. You can have one without the other, going both ways.

Your monitor supports 1680x1050 as the max resolution. While it might be able to accept a 1920x1080 signal, it is for sure going to be converting it to the native resolution to display it. Different monitors have different scaling options, so that depends too. If it is aspect scaled, then a 16:9 source (720/1080 i/p) should have black bars on the top and bottom of the 16:10 screen.

Also, be careful with trying to display interlaced signals. I know that my monitor, the Dell 2407 doesn't support them on the DVI port. So keep that in mind if all you have is something like the Toshiba HD-A2 which is a max 1080i output.

I believe the price premium is due to the panel being 8-bit.
