Memory Prices

Sat Nov 24, 2007 9:23 pm

With DDR2 prices being so low right now, I just wondered if anyone had any Idea which way they may be headed?

I'm seriously considering buying now, seeing as how my current sytem uses standard DDR-400, and I'll be upgrading soon...

I realize it's only speculation, but I'd like to get opinions...

I just ordered 2GB of DDR2 800 for $25 after rebate. I doubt they'll get much lower than that.

I used to buy cheap RAM, but I was never quite happy with it...

Guess I'm an OC Enthusiast (Sucker? :-? )... I know the performance differences aren't all that great, but they are real! So I usually make it a point to buy low latency/higher clocked stuff, within reason ofcourse...

What did you get for $25 AR Crazy?

NCIX.com special. 2x1GB OCZ 4-4-4-15 Platinum rev.2 DDR2 800. It's the same as what I have now so I bought myself another 2GB. The stuff I have now won't quite run at 1066mhz but gives me plenty of headroom.

This is what I was thinking about buying (DDR2-1000/4gb kit)..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820231145

I'm really bad with rebates anyway, so I don't pay a whole lot of attention to them... Actually this set would be cheaper than 2 of the OCZ's (excluding the rebate), and I'm pretty sure it would do CL4 at 800 speeds if that offered better performance...

I know we're getting off topic, but Hey, I'm the OP...

If that G.Skill actually has more headroom than a 800mhz kit that's not too bad of a price. High density high speed ram gets pricey quick.

Hmm, I can only find these at NCIX (not $25, but $55 AR). Did I miss a special already?

BTW, I don't have a DDR2 platform either and was going to buy now as well. If memory drops another $5 I won't regret buying now, but if it goes up $5 I'll regret not buying if I don't. I know, it doesn't make much sense, but neither does this market.

It was a limited offer. I think they only made 200 available at that price.

Had to throw this in. Performance memory (4-4-4-15, PC6400) at a very good price (MIR). They have a 2x2GB kit there as well for about $120.
