Bobby Knight hangs em up

Mon Feb 04, 2008 10:04 pm

Jebus...i felt that the old warhorse would coach FOREVER!! Love him or hate him...the bastage was/is one of the finest minds in basketball. Temper and all aside..he was a great teacher of the sport. CYA and i will miss the good and bad times.

Can't say it surprises me. C'mon - it's Bobby Knight. You always knew he would leave suddenly - and possibly in a chair tossing snit. Now, I can't wait for him to do color commentary with Billy Packer.

Also, his son Pat is likely to be interim coach now. Maybe he'll get a chance to stay on next season.

Anyway, agree with the OP. He's a great teacher, and a "living legend".

Now if only we can get Bowden out of there. And maybe Joe Pat.

Likely? No...he is their new coach. This was agreed upon a couple years ago after he signed his latest contract. Dont know the kid but i assume he has some of dads knowledge

Hope he's got his dad's temper, too. You always need some entertainment outside of the game itself.

I thought it was interesting that his graduation rate for his four year students was so high.

Knight got a lot of bad rep for his temper (and justifiably so, imo), but he was a very good coach in a lot of ways for the young men who went through his program.

He'll be missed.
