As much as it may surprise some, I don't think he even belongs in the discussion for Top 3. He just threw the ball up for grabs too much for that.
Anyway, here is my Top 5
1) Elway - the complete package
2) Montana - Winner
3) Marino - I take the lack of rings into account
4) Young - Had huge shoes to fill and did it admirably
5) Favre - cut his INT's by about 30% and he's #1
Manning and Brady will likely be on this list (either one may in fact be #1) but I decided for this thread not to count active guys. You can in your lists if you like.

Meaning what, that he's on roids?
At any rate, he'll fall off my list when Brady & Manning retire. If I were to lift my "no active players" rule, he'd be off it already.
mattsteg wrote:Well, I'm not completely convinced that his retirement is more legit than Clemens' first couple or Seau's graduation. Come to think of it though, he did rely on drugs to perform, at least earlier in his career.

1. "Big" Ben Roethlisberger
2. Ben "wreckless" Roethlisberger
3. Ben "Giggles" Roflsberger
4. Ben "PAY ME" Roethlisberger
In no particular order. Really he is timeless. I'd take him over any of those "other" top 5 poseurs any day.

Meh, half the NFL is on vike.

You forgot
5. Ben "That's why I wear a helmet!" Roethlisberger.

Only half?

Popularized NFL; threw TD passes in 47 consecutive games.
2. Joe Montana
Stayed the coolest in winning four Super Bowls for the Niners.
3. Otto Graham
Used arm and feet to guide Browns to 10 finals and seven titles.
4. John Elway
Clutch athlete with the "Drive" to win five AFC titles, two Super Bowls.
5. Tom Brady
Has the single-season TD record (50) to go with three Super Bowl rings.
6. Peyton Manning
Has the Super Bowl ring to go with prolific regular seasons.
7. Sammy Baugh
Slingin' Redskin brought the forward pass into the modern era.
8. Brett Favre
Unmatched toughness (275 consecutive starts) and stats (TD, yardage).
9. Dan Marino
The game's most prolific passer not to have won a Super Bowl.
10. Terry Bradshaw
Captained Steelers dynasty to four Super Bowl wins in six years.

Otto Graham is considered by many historians to be one of the greatest winners in the history of professional sports. Graham played six seasons in the NFL and took the Cleveland Browns to the NFL Championship Game all six seasons, winning three NFL titles. Including four seasons in which his team captured four AAFC titles, Graham played ten total seasons of professional football and made the league championship game all ten seasons, winning seven league titles. In his single season as a professional basketball player, the Rochester Royals also captured the league title. Thus, in 11 seasons as a professional athlete, Otto Graham's teams made the championship all eleven years, winning eight titles.
