Dell 2009W display question...

Thu Mar 20, 2008 7:18 pm

I'm in the hunt for monitors and I was looking in the Dell store and I found the: DELL UltraSharp 2009W, I'm looking in the 20'' range mostly because of space constrains. I wold like to hear your opinions on this display since I'm a little new in this... If someone has one I would like to listen to experiences with this monitor... the monitor will be used to watch movies and for gaming...

If your budget will handle it, take a serious look at the UltraSharp 2408WFP, currently on-sale for $624.

1920x1200 resolution will let you watch high-def content with no scaling.

Superior panel technology will provide a better image than the TN panel in the cheaper monitor.

Thanks, but as I said in my previous post I'm looking for a 20'' maximum because of space constrains 24'' is no good...

Edit: but from the looks of it, the display is not that great... does anyone have a better suggestion?

Have you taken a tape measure to your space to be absolutely certain that a good 24" display like the UltraSharp 2408WFP won't squeeze in there?

How about the UltraSharp 2007WFP?

If your cubical is totally claustrophobic, you might consider the UltraSharp 2007FP.

Actually I have taken a tape measure... and as for the location where I want to put the display I can't even squeeze a 22'', otherwise I would be looking for a 22''... the 2007WFP seems good can you point me to a site with good reviews?

$650 for a 2408WFP is a big jump, although it is a great screen.

If you can still find it, the Gateway FPD2485W (discontinued) uses the same S-PVA panel as the older 2407WFP, but with inferior electronics (it is more prone to banding in gradients, but not noticeable outside of artificial scenarios). I got mine for ~$450 with a speaker bar (Mmm...tinny).

Otherwise, the Westinghouse L2410NM uses a MVA matrix and is a steal at $410. Haven't seen it in person, but some people online seem to be pretty happy with it.

If you really can't fit a 24in, the Ultrasharp 2007W is a very nice display, but at $399 it's the same price as the Westinghouse. It's also being discontinued, though, so don't wait too long.

I'd really recommend a 24in screen though, since it's typically the minimum screen size that is full HD+ (1920x1200). Can't clear any desk/cubbyhole space?

2007WFP is in short supply now, you will need some luck to find it.
The Model M is not for the faint of heart. You either like them or hate them.
