high cpu temperature on asus nforce 780

Wed May 14, 2008 8:53 pm

hi
im building a new pc for a friend of mine. booted with no problems. the only thing is the cpu temperature. he has the same cpu and fan as in my sig but getting much higher temerature. mine is about 35c his 42c.

my gigabyte board has a s.m.a.r.t. fan speed control and get about 1000rpm to keep 35c temp his is about 1900rpm to keep 42c.

is there an option in asus striker II nForce 780i sli motherboard to automaticlly adjust fan speed to temperature?? another question is - are idle temperatures around 42-45c normal??

Does he have the same case as you? Good case design makes a big difference in cooling.

May be the HSF was not seated properly?
The Model M is not for the faint of heart. You either like them or hate them.

this could be the thing too. i had a lot problmes seating mine thermaltake (the one with pins) but managed it somehow. this one was tricky too. seems solid. i still have the pc at my place so ill check again for thermal paste and HSF mounting
