Looking for XBox 360 Media Sharing program for Linux

Mon May 26, 2008 9:14 am

So I bit the bullet and moved to Ubuntu 8.04 LTS on my desktop to compliment the Hackintosh install on my laptop. Now, the only problem I'm having is that I cannot find a decent program that will just share out my media to my xbox 360 the way WMP11 does. I don't want to have to jump through hoops on the 360 for it to work. I want to add a computer on the 360 and have it just show my media from a specified folder on the screen the way WMP11 does it. I'm struggling here, as I don't want transcoding, I'm perfectly happy with the ammount of codecs the 360 supports, I just want it to plain ol share files. Any one got anything? Thanks!

I'm not a linux user. But from my research it looks like uShare is the only "sort of working" solution.

A quick Google suggested some links like:

These suggest that TwonkyMedia might be what you are looking for:
http://www.twonkymedia.com/

It is commercial software, but it comes with a 30 day free trial to see if it really does what it claims.

uShare works fantastic other than it has no front end to speak of whatsoever. I got it running and its exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!
