Beckham from 70

Sun May 25, 2008 11:53 pm

Well, I don't know how many people around here are soccer fans but this goal was amazing. If you didn't see it, here it is http://youtube.com/watch?v=qgjWZXnTn9A .A 70 yard goal... And here is one from when he played at Manchester United (Who just won the champions league) from half field http://youtube.com/watch?v=rwiTeNrk9jY&feature=related .

Its an impressive kick, but I'm more of a fan of the kick off goals. Taking advantage of a lax goalie in the opening couple of seconds is always good to watch (especially for the crowd reaction).

btw Converting yards to meters when talking about soccer is making me head hurt.

LOL. Yea, I'm not even gonna try to convert. Both types of scoring are impressive. In the 70 yard goal, the goalie is not in goal because he is trying to score on the corner kick...And well....He just couldn't make it back in time and beat the kick.

The first one is an empty net........big deal. These guys kick a ball for a living, they should be able to put it in the net from anywhere on the field (the "pitch" for you purists). The second one is a little more impressive. Caught the goalie off guard.
For those that fought for it, freedom has a taste that the protected will never know.
