Sound in Sabayon (gentoo) with virtualpc

Mon Jun 09, 2008 2:43 pm

Difficult question:

I have sabayonlinux (one of the better distro's, apart from the horribile long lasting install process) installed in my virtualpc 2007 machine; but unfortunately I'm unable to get any sound from it. A bit of googling revealed this solution. Alas; no sndconfig to be found...

Since I'm a die hard linux noob (can't quite get the hang of it, even after 4 years of unsuccesful trying) - does anybody know a way to transfer the settings to the alsa system (how to do that, alsaconfig just gives me no sound whatsoever).

So, does the sound work outside of VirtualPC?

VirtualPC isn't a very friendly virtual application. Try VIrtualBox (in signature). Completely free and better than VMware and Parallels in my book.
