2009 Digital TV Switch Question

Thu Jun 12, 2008 3:50 pm

Ok, if you have a Cable Ready TV. The kind that you can simply run a cable line to with no convertor box and watch all the unscrambled channels, will you still be able to do this after the Feb 2009 switch?

I don't know. What specific model TV is it? If it has an ATSC tuner, then you are for sure good to go.

First, moved to Visual Haven.

Second, if your TV signal comes from cable TV, the switch means nothing to you. It only affects those using rabbit ears.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

Well, Rabbit Ears & Roof-Top Antennae . . .

If you get your TV signals via one of the cable TV services or one of the satellite TV services, nothing changes. You just have to pay them if you want HD content.

On the other hand, if you currently receive your TV signals via over-the-air broadcasts using either rabbit ears or a roof-top antenna system (with or without rotor), you will need either a television that incorporates the new digital tuner design or you will need one of the D/A TV converter boxes (many of which qualify for $40 government coupons).
