Does blu ray still mandate this crap, or did it go away? So many high-end monitors don't actually support it, is there a reason?

If you want to watch protected content (e.g.: Blu-ray), you will need HDCP. If you have HDMI rather than DVI, it should include HDCP.

So many? I have been seeing the reverse. Most new models do have them. Maybe you just were not reading the specs right? Any examples?

I wish there was a list some wheres of all the compatible monitors because sometimes the specs are ambiguous as to whether the monitors truly supports HDCP or not. I would like to get a blu ray drive for my system but i don't want to make the investment just to mandate another monitor purchase.

A 4,500 30" super duper niche whatever I will never need monitor... that doesn't include HDCP. that's weird to me.

Interesting. The 305T also does not seem to support HDCP also, but the various other brands (Dell and HP in particular) all have support. Below 30", most models now do HDCP as well, with some even sporting HDMI.

Well, I still think HDCP is a sham. It's already been cracked, they should just open it up.
