Hey
I upgraded to Hardy last weekend and ever since, my DVD drive refuses to mount properly. It'll load at boot, but after a while will stop being noticed by the system. I just rebooted to gain access to my drive, an icon popped on my desktop at startup showing my blank CD, I searched the net for something for a few minutes, then when I went back to burn PC-BSD, its now gone. It has been doing this regularly since last weekend. I'll have it mounted at boot, then after some unknown stretch of time, it'll just cease to mount. It won't mount DVDs or CDs or data discs, nothing. The drive works fine in XP (dual boot).
Here is my fstab:
# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
# /dev/sda1
UUID=db4a997f-0e0e-453b-adff-6517e30ea5c7 / ext3 defaults,erro$
# /dev/sda5
UUID=bb1f9ae6-a236-4906-a25f-04cc96f2fdd0 none swap sw $
/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0
And here is the response when I try to mount in the terminal: # mount: special device /dev/cdrom does not exist
Please, this is driving me batty.
