TR Couples 2008 FF

Mon Jul 21, 2008 1:36 pm

I asked about this in the Keeper league thread, and Frobozz just sent me a PM asking if this is still a go, and it is. I just set up the league, etc for a TR wives/girlfriends league. If any TR regluars have a wife or girlfriend (sisters and moms, too) that wants to play Fantasy Football, PM me and I'll send you the info. My wife will be running the primary team and will also be the defacto commissioner of the league.

We need at least 7 more players to make this thing official, so PM me as soon as you can.

TR SO FF Rosters:
1. Mrs. Rolling20s - Raging Antlers
2. Mrs. Frobozz - No Cup Required
3. Mrs. DerFunkenstein - K-Funk All-Stars

TR Significant Others 2008 <-- I like this name :D

8 player fantasy leagues work well too in my experience - for what it's worth.
I am commishining two 8 player non-TR leagues for example. I like it better then 10 player if anything.

More good players to go around, more talent left of the waiver wire to pick from.

Anyway, my wife loves the idea - please PM me the info once the league is created and I'll forward it onto her.

edit: if the 8 team thing sounds good to you - remember it's easy to change the team limit in the yahoo commish tools to 8.

edit: NICE UPDATE 20's 8)

Excellent. My wife is looking forward to it, although, she wanted to change the settings so they mirror the ones we're using for our Friends and Family League. We've got a WR/TE instead of a standalone TE, a WR/RB flex spot, we've added in rushing yards for special teams (you get the special teams of the defense you choose), and we adjusted the kicking scoring to be a little higher. I figured it'd be easier to keep the rules TR standard, but if everyone's down with those changes, she can adjust them.

Also, we need some more players! If you've got an SO, and she's interested, PM me. If we don't get enough, we'll be forced to make this a TR Couple's League, and have the husbands/boyfriends make up the other half of the league.

Well she's not used to those changes yet as this is her 2nd year in FF. Although she did win the league her first time last year.
So, I agree that it would be easier for her if you kept the rules like TR leagues - but your woman really wants to make things more complicated I will help explain the differences to my wife.

I'll talk to her tonight and see how much she likes the new changes. If she's coll with keeping TR standard, then that's what we'll do, no problem.

my wife is game. She's probably not as competitive as some others, but she thought the concept was interesting (playing against other TR SO's). Sent you a PM, Rolling20s

The wife said that there are only two small changes, and one's not even really a change. The first is to make sure that QBs get -2 for each INT (because a Defense gets 2 when they intercept), and to adjust the kicking scoring. I made it more of a gentle curve, and the 50+ is worth more, IIRC. We'll change those tonight. All the roster stuff is the same.

Also, the first post has been updated with those who are in the league.

Mrs. derFunk stole my naming convention - the K-Funk All-Stars have been registered.

Noted.

We still need at least one more team, and that's only if we have the husbands join in and make it a couple's league.

I'm kind of surprised idchafee's wife isn't on that list - i thought she was some kind of ultra-competitive FF player. Maybe I have her confused with someone else.

She used to be a huge FF player. These days, not so much. I've been working on her with limited results.

Well, we've had no other responses yet, so here's the deal: I'll give it until the end of the week, and hope we get a bunch of SOs to sign up. if not, we'll try and find one more couple, and if they're down, we'll make it a couple's league with 8 teams.

So PM me! Sign up! This is fantasy-freaking-football here people! Some one must have a wife or girlfriend that wants to play! C'mon, you made me use exclamation points and everything!

Thanks again for changing the time - it was conflicting with the "TR 2.0 TFW" league.

This will be my first morning draft. Four more to go! :o

My wife is probably going to change her team name, "no cup required" isn't working for her anymore that it's a couples league I guess.

My team name is: Tacklin' Fuel (after the Waterboy)

Okay, so I know that we've got some extras in the league now, but I think we should get some early picks as to who's going to win week one. So, look the rosters over, check the matchups, heck, get the wives to make accounts here for the posting. Who ya got, week 1?

I've been trying to make my matchup picks in all my leagues so far this year.
I like how you can do matchup specific smacktalk on each of the matchup pages.
You can even inject smacktalk in other ppl's matchups.

In week two, I intend to do that aforementioned activity to my wife what Funk's wife did him last week.
But I could be in trouble 'cause she's got Rodgers against DET this week (nice backup to have when Brady went down for her)

Yeah, I'm counting pretty heavily on Jennings, Grant, and Lee running all over DET's defense. If Detroit shuts GB down, I'm 0-2 guaranteed.

In another league I have Rodgers and Brees. I think I may actually start Rodgers over Brees. Crazy? :o

Depends on whether or not you think Rodgers is going to rush for a TD and complete 80% of his passes every game. I'm sure idchafee hopes so.

The Rougnhexx are my brother-in-law. He's kind of kicked ass this season. And, I'm sorry, but the Antlers will rage on... that's my wife, after all. I have to support her.... especially since I didn't make the playoffs this year.
