quick question regarding SMP client

Tue Sep 30, 2008 12:00 pm

hey guys

i'm using the SMP client (MPICH), don't know how i finally got it to actually work without crashing the PC

anyway, i'm seeing only one core of the CPU (E4400) working on the WU...does this mean i can use a 2nd client?

thanks for any insight to this :)

It sounds to me like you're running the single core and not the SMP client. The SMP client when run natively in windows will fully utilize up to 4 cores.

If you're not folding with your idle computer time you're not part of the solution.

Have they merged the SMP and single core client with the -smp switch in the latest Windows client?
The Model M is not for the faint of heart. You either like them or hate them.

according to the FAH wiki they sorta have, need that -smp flag for it to do SMP WU's...thought something was fishy...i went thru the installation guide one by one and missed that piece of info...silly me :o

well, only one way to find out if my PC can run SMP or else i gotta underclock it some more... :-?

i don't have much of a choice since no one but flyingfox is giving me input on the dire situation of my GPU client experience...want to use the CPU client again and run two instances but i've always wondered what was plaguing my system before; i tried the SMP client before but it always crashed...

will try it out later...thanks for the input guys :D
