a new paradigm choice

Sun Nov 02, 2008 1:28 pm

I was just looking at Apple's new 24" LED Cinema Display and a question or two came to mind. http://www.apple.com/displays/ If you were buying your next Mac this month or December....

Voted cheese. My current macbook will last me at least another year. Maybe more.

Cheese.
To be able to have a "next" Mac setup I'd need to go crazy and buy my first one.

OK. what would be your first one, if you became disenchanted with Windows or Linux?

Assuming I lost my mind, I'd probably go for the one with the biggest screen and best processor (and a decent chip to drive that screen too).

I'm waiting for a nice Mac Netbook.

I'm buying in December and I have the exact same conundrum.

I don't really *need* portability. I have a feeling I'm going to end up with an iMac. I'd really like the 24" with the 8800 video card, which is overall quite a bit faster than a comparably priced Mac Book Pro and has a bigger, higher-res display at the same time.

Not really sure I'd be in the market for the "both" option, that's a bit of cash. If my budget were extended enough to get both the 24" iMac and a MacBook, I'd probably mash the two together and get a Mac Pro.
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

Cheese. Just bought a white Macbook since they're way cheaper than the new ones.

The new ones are really slick though.

Cheese. If I wanted to buy a Mac, it would have to be a Macbook without an external display. Since I don't feel the need to spend $1200 or more on a computer, then I won't.
