Anyone know if these are still assembled independently or should I just consider these rebadged OCZ products.

I have been buying PC P&C units since before OCZ bought them and I haven't noticed any change in the models I have been using (Silencer 420w and Silencer 500w).

As far as I'm aware, the PCP&C Silencers are still made by Seasonic, just like they always have been.

OCZ doesn't "make" any PSUs, even for themselves.

The take-home message here is that most retail branded PSUs aren't actually manufactured by the company that sells them... manufacturing is contracted out, and the seller slaps a label on it. Not to say that brand names are worthless... the seller still has a big say (or at least, they do if they are any good) in what goes into the PSU, and gets to choose who they contract the manufacturing out to.

As an aside, I wouldn't be surprised if Antec's quality problems of ~5 years ago were related to a switch in who they contracted their manufacturing out to.

Based on some of their other products, you may be right, but I don't believe it was on accident. They were going cheap on purpose. When going cheap turned out not to be inexpensive because of replacing failed parts and the public black eye, they changed their strategy.

I have an Antec 500 Watt. Currently looking at PC Power & Cooling but their 1000 Watt unit is extremely expensive. Around $400 CAD. Anyone thinks it is worth buying?

That question is unanswerable without a list of components you are planning to power with the PSU unit.

-Phenom II 945 I want to compare it to Core i7 before making the final decision.
-Radeon 58XX (I posted some extra info on this one in Graphics section)
-definitely discrete audio card (Asus Xonar or Creative).
-WD VelociRaptor 300GB HD.
-BluRay Drive.

The answer would most likely be no, unless DAAMIT's next gen is going to take a small nuke plant to power it, which is also unlikely.

That's still in the 500-watt class.
