but the only way i can get the hd into the sleeve is upside down with the sata ports not visible from inside the case, unable to hook them up.

this is very strange.

No matter how bad the new homepage sucks or how bungled the new management is...

There's nothing from the instructions that would indicate any trouble, so I would say, take the drive assembly apart and try again. Maybe there was something you missed (it's always the small, stupid stuff that gets by). Failing that, are you trying to use one of the "hidden" bays? That might be causing some weird trouble that the regular bays might not.

EDIT: Oh snap I was thinking something else >.> Yea these things go to the case section. You probably shouldn't make multiple threads even if you're copying the thread into the right section. Better to just make JAE move it :D

yes just like that
and, based on your picture, the left side, where the ports are, goes against the mobo side of the case

I haven't worked with the CoolerMaster 690, but from the pictures on their site it looks like you may need to use SATA cables that have a right-angle bend in the connector. Something like this. That should allow you to fit the SATA cable between the drive and the right-side panel of the case.

If your PSU's connectors are too large, you may also need a right-angle power adapter.

Thread the cables around from the right and hook them up with the drive only halfway inserted into the bay. After the cables are hooked up, slide the drive the rest of the way in.

This is a common issue with cases that mount the hard drives sideways.

Haven't used the CM cases; however, with most cases, you can remove both side panels. Does removing the other side panel give you access to the drive connectionss?

It most certainly does! :) I have the same case and have them pointed towards th eback side of the case. You have to use 90 degree SATA cables though because I broke 2 the first time I put the panel back on. Its easier to do it the other way with the cables facing the outside of the case.

You can just edit your first post. No need to post twice in a row unless you're already working for Gerbil God status

Can't you route the cables around the back of the drive cage and hook them up before you slide the drive all the way into the bay? That would eliminate the need to remove the other side panel.

Building a computer can be pretty frustrating/annoying for a bit but once you get everything working it all pays off. Good luck with your new system.

Use one of the free image hosting sites like photobucket or imageshack. Heck you could just upload a flickr album and point us to it.
