Creating Icons in the Favorites Menu

Tue Jul 29, 2003 8:13 pm

Hi,

Wondering if anyone knows how to make ur website have a nice little icon like Yahoo! does when you add it to your favorites.

The standard IE icon is getting rather boring dont u think?

First, you need to put the icon itself in the site's root with the name FAVICO.ICO

Then add this in the <head> section of every page in your site (SSIs might come in handy here):

<link REL="SHORTCUT ICON" href="favicon.ico">

As far as I know, there are some issues with this (not) working in Moz and derivates... but it works ok on IE

it dosent work for me under IE 6

It displays the icon similar to the one which windows gives to files with un-recognized file types.
