Photo Hosting Site?

Wed Apr 08, 2009 5:09 am

I'm a real rookie who after searching both google & TR's forums can't figure out where he can go to store photo's.
I don't want a youTube or facebook thing.
I've been using imageshack but have too many problems with photo's disappearing :(.
The photo's will not be huge nor will there be hundreds of them.
So what I need is dependable & fast.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: What I should say is:
So what I need is has been around for a while, dependable & fast as too many new sites fold overnight.
Rats in the hold.
Crews all dead.
I fear the end is near...

I think the 2 most common ones now are Photobucket and Flikr. Both are really simple to use, so the choice is yours.

Photobucket is what I use, and it's great.

I've been using Photobucket since before it was a major player. It's simplicity has remained unchanged, it's great.

Try Google's free picture hosting when using Picasa. It gets the job done pretty well, and best of all it is free for 1G storage.

Otherwise, what they said.

Another vote for Photobucket here :), you used to be able to put full-sized res pics, now its been reduced to a limited size (can't recall what res that is) but still easy to upload, tag and share. I've recently got Flickr to try it out for photography sharing since most people seem to use that for professional like profiles. And as for google's picasa, haven't used it that much but it ties in with your other google apps/services so i'm liking to give it more use. I'd start with photobucket, easiest to use.

Since this zombie thread is picking up steam...

Free Photobucket accounts are limited to 1 MB files (this size works well with the ¼-size 2½ MP "small" JPEGs out of my camera), 500 MB total storage and 10 GB/month bandwidth. The professional account lifts these restrictions for $3/month, $25/year or $40/2-years.

Whoopps, sorry about that, didn't notice the "Edit" remark :|. I'm curious to ask/mention, but don't phpBB forums have the ability to Auto-Prune posts that have not been touched in X number of days by locking them. This would help with all of the Necro spamming we've experienced in the past few months, while allowing members to reference an old/archived post. No posts made in 30 days, it auto-locks the thread... just a suggestion (if that feature is available)
