IOMETER BENCHMARK

Wed Oct 10, 2007 12:56 pm

I am curious can anyone give me a quick step by step instruction as to how to benchmark HD with iometer? I see that you can do file server/web server/ etc. However, when I choose iometer, I didn't see these option and I am not sure how to set it up? thansk.

Start simple. Here's a tutorial on one configuration:

I'd increase the file size 10x and add 64k accesses to the test.

The file server, web server, etc., pattern definitions can be found using Google. Once you know how to set up IoMeter as above, you can manually enter the definitions for those patterns.

You'll also have a better chance of understanding what they mean this way. (Which is nothing really special -- they're just specific synthetic benchmarks).

Come back to live, thread!

I have trouble locating that "default profile included by Intel" since the open source package downloaded from iometer.org does not contain the .icf file. Google and Bing came up empty. Does someone have that wrkloads.icf file anymore?
