Best Case For $100?

Sun Dec 06, 2009 2:16 pm

I am looking for a new case that is 100 dollars or less.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129058
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129073

These are the two cases I have been looking at. I am not sure if there are any better ones for the same price.

Help?

Well there are probably lots of good cases at that price. A few I like are Coolermaster Storm Scout and the NZXT Beta (the beta is cheaper but you will need to buy a rear case fan).

Though I must say your choices are actually pretty good too. I was just suggesting alternatives you can look at but the ones I suggested arent necessarily better.

Assuming you want a mid tower.

I would go with either the Cooler Master Storm Scout or the Azza Helios 910.

The Azza is actually a very interesting case. It uses a full 5.25" bays inside with a 5.25" to 3.5" cage that is movable. It can fit virtually any graphics card in this method. It also has solid locations of its cable management cut outs. The only issue I have is the fans having lights on them. Unlike the Storm Scout which has a button to turn those lights off you're stuck with them on the Helios unless you swap the fans out. Which can be a issue as it has a large fan (230mm I think) on the side panel that has lights. Overall though it is very well thought out.

There's also the Cooler Master Gladiator 600 which is a Storm Scout on the inside without the painted interior. Cheaper though.

EDIT: I'll also say... I personally think the Antec 900 and 902 are some of the most over rated cases out there right now. Sure they push a lot of air but they're hideous and offer poor at best pre-cut cable management holes.

That's the case I'm using now (well, sort of, I'm using the K10B but they are basically the same thing). It has a removeable motherboard tray and a very nice, no-frills design. I just prefer non-gaudy cases that don't have LEDs all over the place or ass ugly front panels (which both of your choices fall into, no offense). It has lots of cooling too, 2 x 120mm intakes and 1 x 120mm output, all pre-installed. It also has pre-cut holes for water cooling, accomodates 12-inch long graphics cards like the 9800GTX I'm using, and many 3.5-inch bays for hard drives.

I just placed my order. I went with the Antec 902.

So if it says 1-2 days shipping does that mean it will get here on tuesday?

Wednesday/Thursday is more likely than Tuesday.

At the earliest, the package will leave one of their warehouses late Monday when UPS/whoever swings by (NewEgg is usually pretty good about shipping the next day - although they do have all of the weekend's orders to fulfill so it could possibly not leave their warehouse until Tuesday afternoon).

It also depends how close you are to one of their warehouses.

although you already bought one, the antec p182 can probably be found for some great prices since the p183 model came out
I personally feel neon blue lights should stay in the 'drive-thru is open' sign at the Wendy's

new egg requires 1 day for processing paperwork, then they ship and days count from then
sometimes u get lucky or pay the extra fee for same day processing but its rare

Rare? Just order early that day or the night before. Don't waste money on the processing fee.

I also strongly dislike blue as a light color for computers, or any electronics for that matter. I find red lights to be of a less "piercing" intensity than blue.

I think the piercing effect is what they go for with those blue lights. Makes it look defined I guess.

If you really want to save money and still want to get a decent quality case. i would highly recommend the Antec 300 for $54 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product
It has excellent airflow a bottom mounted psu design , and they don't show it in the pictures but it was designed with space behind the drive bays to reroute and tie down your cables. I have one and absolutely love it's best qaulity case on the market imho.(for under $75 dollars at least) If thats not convincing enough check out the 1600+ reviews on newegg with a 79% five star rating.
Amd Phenom 2 560(unlocked to 4 cores at 3.8ghz),xfx Radeon 6870 (ty again tr ^^ ),Cooler master haf case, 4gb of drr3 1600 ram, win7 ultimate 64bit
