Choosing a new monitor - Thoughts?

Mon Dec 28, 2009 2:13 pm

Trying to decide on a new monitor and have narrowed the field to the following monitors:

http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/offi ... prd_detail

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/174584

http://www.lge.com/uk/it-products/monit ... W2486L.jsp
http://www.dabs.com/products/lg-electro ... -412800000

http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/pr ... sku=193757

Any advice or recommendations on these monitors is appreciated, all comments welcome. Thanks.

I recommend buying monitors in stores rather than online. When you buy them online, if there is a problem (such as a dead pixel), you're in trouble.

As for which monitor to choose... no comment, except that www.xbitlabs.com has excellent LCD monitor reviews.

Have you seen this thread? I used it 6+ months ago when I was in the market for a new monitor and it proved rather useful. Also what is your main purpose (gaming, CAD, photo editing, etc.) for this monitor?

Main purpose would be gaming and internet use, as well as ECAD circuit software and office.

Well I use AutoCAD and Inventor (3-D modeling) for a living and can tell you from personal use that my Dell 2407WFP (PVA panel) is a good choice CAD work.

Here are a couple more sites to check out:
