Hi I've Searched the forum & can't find the the difference between 4 or 8 pin cpu power connection Can someone please explain?
For example some of new mobo have 2x 4 12v vs 4 x 12v?
Also can you plug in a 4 pin 12v into a 8 pin & have a stable boot?

Get a EPS power supply, it will have what you need.

Many of those motherboards will run with either the 4-pin P4 ATX or 8-pin EPS 12V connectors. If you happen to run into one that won't, there are other solutions.

There is no difference in voltage; both the 4-pin and 8-pin versions supply 12 volts. The difference is that the 8-pin connector can supply more current, since there are twice as many pins.

For lower wattage CPUs, you should be able to get away with using only 4 of the 8 pins (the 4-pin connector from the PSU will fit into half of the 8-pin connector on the motherboard). The exception would be motherboards which don't bridge all of the 12 V pins together internally (e.g. the motherboard individually wires different 12 V pins to different phases of the VRM); in that case, you would need some sort of adapter, or a PSU with the proper 8-pin connector.

Your motherboard's manual will tell you if it can work with a 4-pin connector or if it requires an 8-pin.
