Wow Intel is selling these things for a seemly low price. I know they are only 2.66ghz and 533mhz fsb but still.
A 506 (2.66ghz 533mhz fsb) is $106 at newegg, just add $40 bucks for another core.

Now we just need a cheap mobo for PDs [that can OC well] and we'll really have something nice for dedicated folding...
Wake me when the Windows SMP client doesn't suck...

I don't need it to. Me thinks you're feeling a little too content with your 1,400 PPD lead... You've got a lot of ground to cover and if you want victory this decade you're going to have to do better... :P

i dunno, from where i'm sitting it's just over a year and a half, but that gap will close - more opterons to come!

I know for a fact that I'll be bringing 4 pretty swanky CPUs online within a few days...

I'd guess those Sempron's that were dirt cheap at Monarch a few days ago.

any thoughts of the price/performance versus a x2 3800+? 145 bucks makes is really tempting....even for an amd fan
