I'm no segfault, but thanks in large part to help from a patron who shall post here shortly...

I've decided to reverse my slow orbital decay of the last 2 years and rise once again.

We're anticipating around 20 new cores to be upped full time over the next month.

Woah, I wish TheBank and LordIcon would also invest in reversing their falling PPD as well.......exciting times for 2630.

We're already opening the gap between us and MacOSX. They were 5 months from overtaking us, now its a year :D

I am concerned, we have 3 times less active uses than Alliance Francophone above us. We're out producing them, but 2630 is already maximizing its potential, we need to recruit in order to reduce the 4 year overtake time.

I suppose I can help a bit with that...

I wonder how well VMWare + Linux SMP client will work with me playing WoW/ET:QW at the same time?

Either way, most of my computers have been off for some time now. I guess I could start firing them up (and with my sister moving back in, I have another PC I can fold!)

It's not full-time, just when I'm home from work/on the weekends.

It doesn't do so well when I play C&C3 with that setup. All I do is exit the VMware when I play and then restart it when I'm through playing.

With VMware, by default it is set to normal priority. Just use taskmgr (or similar programs) to change the priority to low. Also under Host->Settings, in the priority tab, change the input ungrabbed priority to low.
I keep mine running while gaming and it works fine (benchmarks also show just about no impact). However if you don't have 2GB (maybe 1.5GB depending on the game), just select Power->Suspend for a very fast way to pause the client. Then when done gaming, just hit Start. Note that if using a slower X2, beware that if spend lots of time with the client off, you might miss the preferred deadline!

Well i guess its time to up 4ghz of p4'ness and give the vmware+smp a go. I had stopped folding for a while, but us oklahoma kids gotta stick together! my 2ghz core2duo will enjoy a good burn in anyways!

edit: check that, i guess its a little closer to 6 ghz of p4's. I would run a couple mac clients that i have control over, but the users don't like the terminal popping up.

Couldn't you close the terminal by adding '&' after the executable?

I'm really not sure. I'm not too familiar with the commands there. any info would be appreciated.

Try reading this tutorial:

http://forum.folding-community.org/ftopic16826.html

Here's a snippet from the tutorial:

To be able to close the window, type

./fah5 -local -advmethods -forceasm -verbosity 9 &

The '&' enables the terminal to close.
