Audio recording? iPods are one of the the only MP3 players on the market without recording features. Good luck on that one. Still no FM radio either. *mad*

Once Apple wakes up and puts in the features that Creative has been doing for years, then I might purchase a iPod. Until then, I'll stick with my Zen Vision:M.

Since I heard about this, I can't believe how general and non-specific these patents are. Maybe we could avoid this if we would wake up or shake up the patent office. Just do something to avoid giving companies these generalized patents.

Damn, so much for inventing anything. Some big company someplace has a patent on everything you could ever dream up and more. It seems these patent-happy corporations are waiting to take your hard-earned money away once you have made enough to pay the lawyers fees and a little left over for thier CEO.

Sad free country we live in.

It seems much like the cold war arms race only with patents.

," Phil O'Shaughnessy, a spokesman for Creative, told the International Herald Tribune. "At no time during these discussions or at any other time did Apple mention to us the patents it raised in its lawsuit.".... So Apple was seriously ready with the counter... meanwhile Creative had no idea about who they are really dealing with this time.......

I bet Apple was just waiting for Creative to attack. That's a real beat-down.

I just want to see what happens in the AMD/Intel fight.

am I the only one that finds the patents creative owns and sueing over WAY more relevant than the patents apple has and is blaming creative of violating?

i don't understand how apple possibly has a case here...

it doesn't matter who's right and who's wrong in this lawsuit, but if Creative's losses continue in general, millions of people with soundblasters are going to go be very upset being left hanging to dry (me included). I don't see this lawsuit netting Creative any money though.

I hope this drags on for eons so those poor lawyers can buy a nicer desk, a Ferrari, and a second home in Whitefish.

Everyone involved can fall on a knife.

I hope Creative loses. Mr Sim Wong Hoo has grown rich and lost the visionary ideas he had when he created the soundcard that propelled him to fame. I want him to be pummelled into the dust, so maybe he will again rise up with innovative creations instead of suing like the snug and greedy capitalist he is now.

If we are lucky the judge will throw out all the patents as too general. They will both loose their court fee's but the consumers would hopefully gain some needed competition.

It's really nice for all these big corporations to have randomly assorted patents that they have filed away or earned the rights to; if you really look through everything, you'll find that Apple almost owns a patent for blinking while in a room with a computer.

Talk about a bunch of "generally non-specific anything" patents. Seems to me no one is safe, from the makers of TV sets to cell phones, if I held those patents I could sue anyone.
