Still no clue why there is not a foot-driven foot-pad. Four large bass pedals to switch between four desktops...

Can I do the same thing for carriage return and line feed? I'd like to go for more of a nostalgic feel.

Yes, I always like striking my expensive electronic equipment. It's more efficient than pressing a key-combination and it's sensible, too. Ahem.

A lot of quick-draw critics here, I see. If the amount of "smack" shown in that video were really sufficient to cause damage to the unit, then the unit is constructed from rice paper and waffle cones. Now, if you tried to integrate this into your favorite FPS game, we might have a damage risk...
Also, speaking as a well-seasoned keyboard junkey, ALT+TAB is NOT always faster. This here would allow you to scroll through applications lie flipping pages. If you have several applciations open -- especially several instances of the same application with similar titles (not uncommon when, e.g., reviewing a series of business reports) -- it might well be quicker just to tap through them. The scroll wheel concept applied to application switching, as it were. |

With the help of a link from bhtooefr I came across this: http://www.slappingturtle.com/home/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkAtRfA1UXc No need for external devices. I can see this feature being incorporated into more laptops. It could do without the chirping though. |

OK, That is stupid. Seriously, after the 300th time you've done this, and you reach over to smack it, and you accidentally scratch it with your nails or do it too hard?

My two-year-old Toshiba M200 convertible tablet has a motion sensor that can be programmed to do certain tasks when the unit is shaken or rotated in certain ways. I tried using it to open applications, but it was somewhat annoying after only a brief period. Perhaps if I used the nvidia multiple-desktop manager, I could replicate something similar to what this article shows.

I could see this being really useful on small devices with more limited screen real estate, such as iPods or PDAs.
