i thought R600 was 65nm and taped out and would be released around the end of year. this article says Ati will go to 65nm as early as next year.

How come CPUs skip from 90nm to 65nm, and GPU's stop over at 80 nm?

Will this cut power consumption more than a trifle? Will it decrease prices?...

Or is it just a way for ATI to increase margins and inflate clock speeds?
