Proof positive that despite chronic upgrade-itis in the geek community, AGP is far from dead and buried.

I thought I just read in the news somewhere that nVidia was in trouble with AGP boards because IBM was going to stop producing its PCI-e to AGP bridge chip?

Finally, someone gets it. Instead of selling crippled (7800GS) or overpriced (X1600 Pro 512MB, 7800GS) cards, they're actually going to use the same card with a bridge chip. As long as the price is only $5-$10 more, nvidia is going to be asking itself why it didn't do this sooner.

I doubt they'll sell them for a reasonable price. I bet you'd still be better off buying a mobo and PCIe video card (if you have that option).

I know AGP is dead, but I'm happy. I want a fast passively cooled graphics card to be the final upgrade for my A64 3000 system...

Considering that a little factory out there is still churning out vanilla PCI video cards (such as the 6200), this isn't too surprising.

i865 FTW!
Not really, but I do have one paired with a 2.8GHz northy in my MCE box. It already has a 6600GT, though, which is more than enough grunt for motion adaptive deinterlacing at 1080p, so the only thing that would lead me to drop a new graphics card in it would be an AGP based HDCP compliant card. Interesting to see that i865 is fully conroe compatible. |

Same here.
Now, if Leadtek made the WinFast PX7600 GT (HDCP Edition) in AGP, that would be interesting!
