The Office 2007 beta seems to work very nicely. They went for simplicity and a user friendly approach. The the Ribbon feature replaces the confusing formatting options. It was simplicity and ease of use that got me to switch from Word Perfect 5 to Word for Windows 2.0 many years ago. Glad they are getting back to their roots.
Windows Vista Beta 2 Very nice looking. Aero Glass is cool looking and they simplified Internet Explorer's look and UI a lot. The security features always asking about executing administrator commands are a little annoying but liveable. Still there and many major bugs and driver issues that need to be resolved before it will be ready for release. Many new games do not work with DirectX 10. Expect major slipage here.

I am starting to wonder, why instead of building an entirely new OS, why they didn't just release a XP SE (second edition), with all the nifty features Vista is gonna have (Aero interface......).

Perhaps they're still searching for a compelling reason why anyone would want to upgrade.

Every time I hear about MS software being delayed, it somehow brings a smile to my face, kinda like getting out of taking a test because of a fire drill back in school days. Now if only Vista could be delayed untill after 2010...

Scaling down new features, scaling up ship dates.

Typical Microsoft.

They just need time to incorporate a new paperclip guy.

As long as the delay isn't so that they can add another two or three hundred buffer over-run vulnerabilities to the code, we will all be better off with the delay.
