I tried to get them to take my laptop battery back in the recall but it wasn't one of the recalled models, despite the fact that it gets hot enough to prevent handling. I finally just bought a replacement battery on http://www.laptopsforless.com/laptopbattery and it works great plus it won't catch on fire. A suggestion for anyone else stuck in the same situation.

My battery is one digit off from being on the list. However, it overheated once and burned my hand, and currently holds about 20 minutes of charge. And chances they'll take it back with the recall?

here at work we have 2 affected batteries. Interestingly, Dell doesn't give you any instructions at all wrt to what to do with your current batteries. It just says "replacements will be shipped within 20 days"

So i guess I just pop in my replacements and throw the old ones away? or mail them back to dell? i dunno!

I'm talking to you on my Inspiron 6000 which could explode any minute. How exciting! I'm even more excited that after having this thing for a year I get a new battery.

maybe they can donate them to boy scouts, instead of having to rely on rubbing sticks together, just grab a battery

The website https://www.dellbatteryprogram.com/ isn't new and I replaced the battery in my 9300, which was among the recall, many months ago.

In fact I'm not entirely sure this is news... Far as I know Dell has been replacing this Sony battery for months now.

Any ways, they send you a package to put the old defective battery into, with a label, and instructions to call a particular vendor to come and do a pick up.

The whole process is easy and painless.

I'm very happy their are recalling my battery since mine is quickly failing on me. My battery lasts less than 1/3 of what it used to and it's only 1.5 years old...

I'm currently using my battery though, I'll risk using it until they get my new one to me.

Checked one of two affected models, and one of six potentially affected machines, we have...

The one I checked was 5 off.

Anyway, we've had an Inspiron 1150 get the battery SUPER hot and fail... and the 1150 is well outside of the model range.

Battery was replaced under warranty, though.

TSA better look for these specific models of notebooks -- if they can cause an explosion + fire, they are a hazard to air travel.

Funny how Sony and problems seems to go along. I wonder who else uses Sony batteries besides Dell...

And in other news, Dell found a buyer for these recalled batteries, and is sending them to address: Ozzie B. Ladley, Cave #41B, Southern Afghanitsan.

Did anyone happen to notice that every battery listed had an 11.1 Volt Output rating on it? Does that seem odd to anyone?
