um, you should *never* fear losing any amount of data, because you should be DOING BACKUPS OF CRAP YOU DON'T WANT TO LOSE. Duh.

I'd feel a little uneasy about the prospect of losing 1TB of data in one hit, but doubly so with a Deathstar label on the drive.
Still, a great milestone. And you've gotta love Hitachi's animation. |

For the record I have a Hitachi Travelstar 7K60 in my iBook and it's great with no problems whatsoever . But I still feel uneasy -- rational or not -- with the Deskstar as a brand (just as I would a Diamondmax, despite owning one which also has been great) and I'd rather pick up a 5 year warranty Seagate is all.

Ugg. After losing 250GB last week, I fear losing 1TB of info. I'll tell you what. I have 2 new 250GB + a NetCell in the mail. This data loss hit me hard.

If 1TB = 931GB after the "converstion" why don't they just advertise the "converted" number. I wish drive makers and OS makers (and filesystem writers) could agree on using SI or powers of 2 when listing capacities. I heard a while back someone sued Western Digital for this and they had to give everyone with certain models of drives $30 worth of backup software; IMHO they got off with a slap on the wrist; if they had been ordered to pay the plantiffs I bet a consensous on how to better represent capacities in the future would have quickly been reached.
