Wasn't this technology in Macs a long time ago?

10 times the lifetime of flash is a step in the right direction, but still way way way short of ram's lifetime, I think.

Getting there, not there yet. Vista may like it for the stupid QuickReady caching or whateverthehell it's called.

Here's something I've been wondering about: why don't they RAID0 flash rom? The controller cost would go up a little bit, but 4x512 MB isn't a lot more expensive than 1x2048 MB, and you'd get 4x the performance.

Waiting for a Brit to make the remark I'd make if I were one...

So could they concievibly make a multi-GB drive out of this for a windows system drive that loads programs with the speed of RAM and can be powered off/on instantly without shutting down?

Does that mean when this ram comes out, all other ram will get pwned?!?!

Yes, i know i am lame, but pwned is the first thing I thought of when I saw "Pram."

I'm excited to hear about this new type of ram. I've always wanted to load and run programs from swapable flash memory, but the slow speeds and limited life time of flash has made that dream pretty unrealistic. This reads like just what the doctor ordered (faster speed and longer life span).

This also seems like something to aid the development of those hybrid hdd for use with Vista.

512Mb is high-density now. In 2008, not so much. Though if the performance is really there, that might not matter so much.
