After all the howls of protest when you couldnt buy a Conroe easily on opening day...the silence from all the "AMD rules/Intel sucks" crowd is deafening.Oh wait...thats right...they're all "waiting for K8L".

I just bought a Dell E521 with a 5000+.

First person to do so in Canada. (Is that a good thing?)

879 $Can with 1GB of ram, DVD burner, 80GB drive and X1300 Pro (Just to tide me over until DX10 cards come out)

(Thats about 775-800 $US)

I think Dell got all the 5000+ chips.

And I think I got a sweet deal.

Have you seen the E521 prices?

New systems coming to an office I support soon. Do I get the X2 3800+ or the C2D boxes? Both systems going to have 1GB of ram, XP Pro and some onboard PCI-e card (or some cheapie dedicated). As long as the HDDs are 7200 rpm and the Dell "cruft" has been removed, they'll do a lot better than the current P4 Celerons.

Who wants to buy the 5000 or 5200 anyway? It seems that the sensible AMD buy is the 3800+. Other than that, C2D makes much more sense.

A64 X2 5000s don't seem to carry crazy price premiums on the new Dell models, so that might be where they all disappeared to.
