Never had a problem with -/+R's in my samsung unit (hate the remote skip/FF is same button crap) ever, save for Dual Layer.

Hits the second layer and blows macro-chunks. LG plays it perfectly, tho.

Ah, well, wasn't planing on either format for a long while if "ever'ish".

Tho, I'm still waiting for someone to get the "hey, Idjits in Hollywood, 16x9 works well for Hi-Def sets...how about formatting it right, eh?".

I guess I'm the only one wondering how funky that must look reflecting light, heh. They better not be like PS2 disks that are black and reflect nothing. :)

Nice idea tho, but I sure wish this beta/vhs bullshizzle would work itslef out first like with the tapes. Cant buy many new movies on betamax format.

I'll buy a next generation DVD format when there is only one format to buy. Until then, no thank you.

Pfft. The studios could end the format war tomorrow if they all would back one format: HD-DVD. That would leave Sony out in the cold and they'd concede just like they did when it was VHS vs. Betamax.

"reflecting enough light to be read by a Blu-ray player but letting enough light through for an HD DVD player to see the HD DVD layer beneath it"

thus reducing the life of the product dramatically...no?

So now an HD-DVD player has to try to focus on a track through a Blu-Ray layer?

Fine in theory, but there's a little-known phenomena in the world of optical media know as scratched discs. Or should I say there's a little know phenomena known as unscratched discs.

LOL, someone took the DVD + and DVD - and put it in one format.

Some people know how to win without letting pride get in the way.

Why does Warner not want to make money? As a distributer, it's in their best interest to make versions of their films on as many different formats as possible. Each has a different SKU, sells to a different audience and futher entrenches each format in the minds of the consumers who support it.

Good thing for us consumers they aren't thinking this way. They'd much rather distribute the content on one media that everyone can watch. I'll make sure to buy these when they hit the shelves.

Since the DVD part is already on the other side. Aint it easier to have HD-DVD+DVD on one side, since its already compatbile. And then bluray on the other? OMG! I gonna patent this!
